Non-Safety Full Plant Digitisation Instrument Control System (NC-DCS)

The system is a fully digitised instrument control system developed for a million-level kW PWR nuclear power unit, which mainly includes the following sub-systems:

  • Reactor protection system
  • Safety control system
  • Reactor power control system
  • Safety VDU for master control room and RSS
  • Nuclear island control system other than CCS
  • Conventional island control system
  • KIC system
  • Large screen display system POP
  • Backup panel BUP (including PAMS)

System Characteristics
  • Software component-based design, standardised software interface, bus based on internal software, and software performance can be configured based on needs.
  • Based on the double-layered network structure comprising control network (FCS Net) and the system network (KIC Net), the data of the control network and application server is separated, reducing the impact of human-machine operations on the automation control system.
  • Designed with multiple-redundancy and fault-tolerance in mind.
  • Adopt data-synchronisation design based on bus and software to ensure disturbance-free switching.
  • Adoption of C/S approach.
  • Adoption of deterministic real-time network reduces control cycle instability arising from network delays.
  • Provides Level 2 algorithm functions where full computation is possible at Level 2.
  • Open data interface.
  • Uses FMEA analysis and statistical data analysis to determine key components and links affecting system reliability to improve the system’s overall reliability.
  • Provides multiple IO interface protection circuit design for overvoltage, overcurrent, and filtering, preventing damage of IO channels by transient signals.
  • Isolation is considered for hard-wired connections using interconnection signals between different control stations related to control or interlocking logic. Electric isolation is used for signals at different system subdivisions or different safety levels and communication interconnection.
  • Control and interlocking logic achieves the diagnostic and fault-tolerance capabilities unique to an IT system.
